Jimmy Smith – Rockin’ The Boat

An excellent Jimmy Smith album with his trio of that era, guitarist Quentin Warren and drummer Donald Bailey.  They’re joined by Lou Donaldson on alto and John Patton, a great organist himself, on tambourine.  I’ve always been a big Jimmy Smith and jazz organ fan, but this was fun for me because it was the first original pressing Blue Note record I found.  It’s not in super clean condition (VG+), but still sounds great.  (Details: Blue Note BLP 4141 mono–New York USA labels w/no deepgroove, + “p” + van gelder)
