Jerry Lee Lewis — The Greatest Live Show On Earth

Although I was recently enjoying Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas, sadly it’s not photographed or transfered, so I have no Christmas music today….

What I do have is a cool 1964 live record from Jerry Lee Lewis.  I have no idea who is in the band, but I like the piano/organ combination, the drummer is great, and Jerry Lee is singing his ass off.  His killer (pun intended) version of Charlie Rich’s Who Will the Next Fool Be is included below.

I believe this is the orginal stereo pressing on Smash.  It’s somewhat collectible and spikes in price on occasion, but I still see it for reasonable prices.  I also enjoy his late 60’s/early 70’s country albums on Smash/Mercury.  I’ll put one of those up in a future post.

(Details: Smash SRS-67056/stereo/red label)

Hey Tim, was this the live show recorded at the Star Club in Germany with the Bashville Teens as backing band? Jerry Lee (or his labels) have put out so many records, it’s hard to keep track.

Hi Tony—This one is from a concert in Birmingham, AL. I’m away from the LP right now, but when I’m back I’ll check the cover for more details.

…and you know I meant The Nashville Teens right?? 🙂
