Delaney & Bonnie — On Tour with Eric Clapton

Recorded in December 1969 and released the following summer, “On Tour” was Delaney & Bonnie’s best selling record.  After working with the duo during a Blind Faith tour, Eric Clapton joined up but would soon from his own band,  Derek and the Dominoes, with several members of this group–Bobby Whitlock (key/voc), Carl Radle (bs), Jim Gordon (dr)–a criminally underrated rhythm section.  The “Layla” album is a favorite of mine and I enjoy several of Clapton’s 1970’s solo records, so it’s been interesting to dig into the roots of that music.
