Bud Powell Trio

Here’s a trio date by the great Bud Powell with Max Roach (dr) and Curly Russell (bs).  The label on one side includes “Jack Lesberg – bass”, but on the cover of the LP and anything I found online there was no mention of Lesberg, only Roach and Russell–so I’m not sure what that’s about.  This session was done in 1947 and originally released on 78 format.  The 10″ LP version found here was released in 1951.

  1. A Roost original, wow. First I have seen, not something you see every day. Sounds pretty good for something from 1951.

I think so too. It quite worn, but is still very enjoyable despite some surface noise.

woah! that’s the most on top of the beat I’ve heard Bud sound.
